Exhibition Fluxus 2025 & Collage “Ja, dann ist das so!” ( “Yes, then that’s how it is!”)

Fluxus 2025 –
“Ja, dann ist das so!” ( “
Yes, then that’s how it is!”) On the first weekend of September, the Kunst & Musik Etage Hannover opens its doors to an extraordinary event that defies all conventional exhibition practices: Fluxus 2025 – “Yes, then that’s how it is!!” is not a museum-style arrangement, but a living, breathing art experience that unfolds through voices, gestures, and provocations.

Crossing the threshold of the Etage means entering not a traditional exhibition space, but an artistic laboratory devoted to chance, participation, and resistance.

Initiated by Lars Schumacher, an artist who moves between sound, poetry, and space, the project draws from the rebellious spirit of the 1960s Fluxus movement. It’s a place where art is not finished but open—not a product, but a process. Over 180 international artists transform the Etage into an archive of possibilities: collages, texts, performances, and hybrid forms invite visitors to engage, co-create, and be surprised.

The list of contributors reads like a who’s who of the avant-garde and contemporary protest: from Fluxus veterans like John M. Bennett and David Zack, to political heavyweights like Ai Weiwei, and mail art pioneers such as Ruud Janssen and Ryosuke Cohen. Sound and performance artists like Dadanautik, Dame Mailarta, and DS Dadastation21 blur the line between art and life—their works are not just displayed, but lived.

Germany’s art scene is powerfully represented as well: Beate Axmann’s socially engaged paintings, Annette Behlau’s poetic image-text compositions, and Susanne Schumacher’s digital reflections on urban spaces show how resistance and poetry intersect in today’s world. A special highlight: visitors are invited to curate their own selections. These will later be publicly presented in Berlin—a collective act of co-creation that extends the exhibition beyond space and time.

On Sunday at 3:00 PM, Susanne Schumacher will offer an introduction to the Fluxus concept and provide insights into the artistic processes behind the works. Those who immerse themselves in this event won’t just see art—they’ll become part of a dialogue, a movement, a living archive.

Located at Vahrenwalder Straße 213, the Kunst & Musik Etage is more than an exhibition venue—it’s a resonance chamber for contemporary art and musical experimentation. As an established part of the ZINNOBER art festival, it contributes to Hannover’s vibrant art scene. Whether by bike, tram line 1 (Windausstraße stop), or on foot—the journey is worth it.

Fluxus 2025 & Collage –
“Ja, dann ist das so!” (Yes, then that’s how it is!) is not an exhibition you simply visit. It’s a state of being, a mirror of our fragmented present, an open field for encounter, disruption, and insight. Come by—and prepare to be surprised.
