New Horizons unfolds as a transcontinental meeting point where contemporary artistic practice becomes a catalyst for cultural understanding and shared imagination. Under the curatorial direction of Dr. Müberra Bülbül and the coordination of Davaasambuu Batnasan, the exhibition and symposium held on 8–9 July 2026 at the Mongol Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar bring together artists from Asia and Europe to explore how artistic expression can transcend borders and open new spaces of dialogue. Embedded within Mongolia’s traditional cultural festivals, the project positions art as a universal language capable of bridging worlds, revealing how local traditions and global perspectives can coexist, intersect, and enrich one another.

Jung Chih Chang, Andrea Kraus — contribute a rich spectrum of visual languages shaped by cultural memory, personal experience, and collective aspiration. Their works form a multifaceted conversation about identity, belonging, and transformation, illuminating the complexities of contemporary life while opening pathways toward mutual understanding.
Set within a cultural landscape where art is not a separate sphere but an embodied part of everyday life, New Horizons resonates deeply with Mongolia’s artistic heritage. Creativity here is understood as a lived inheritance shaped by nomadic traditions, natural philosophy, and intuitive forms of expression. The Mongol Art Gallery — one of the country’s most active contemporary art institutions — embodies this spirit of openness. Founded in 2019, it has rapidly become a vital platform for cultural exchange, hosting exhibitions, workshops, research meetings, and educational programs that connect local artistic heritage with global contemporary discourse. Its five-story structure, with studios, classrooms, and flexible exhibition spaces, mirrors the multiplicity of voices gathered for this event.
Within this context, the exhibition becomes more than a presentation of artworks; it becomes a space of encounter where Mongolian worldviews intersect with international perspectives and where tradition and modernity are not opposites but interwoven forces. The artistic practices represented in New Horizons echo the bold, experimental, and socially engaged energy of Ulaanbaatar’s contemporary art scene, which has evolved since the 1990s into a field marked by conceptual innovation, ecological awareness, and political reflection. In a city shaped by rapid transformation, artists explore themes of transition, identity, and the fragile relationship between humans and nature — energies that flow directly into the exhibition.
Dr. Bülbül’s curatorial vision frames New Horizons as a symposium of perspectives, emphasizing dialogue as both method and outcome. Each artwork becomes a point of connection, revealing how cultural diversity can be understood not as difference but as a shared resource. In this sense, the exhibition reflects the broader role of contemporary art in Mongolia today: a bridge between inherited knowledge and global discourse, a catalyst for reflection in a rapidly changing society, and a medium through which mutual understanding can be cultivated. By situating international artistic voices within the cultural rhythms of Mongolia’s festivals, New Horizons highlights how art can illuminate the spaces between cultures, fostering curiosity, respect, and a sense of collective future — expanding the horizon of what cultural exchange can mean in the twenty-first century.
The Greatest Mongolia Art Expo will take place on 8–9 July 2026 at the Mongol Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar, bringing together artists, cultural practitioners, and international guests for two days dedicated to artistic exchange and contemporary creativity. Under the thematic focus “New Horizons” – International Art Exhibition, the event positions itself as a platform for dialogue across cultures, reflecting the guiding idea of Cultural Exchange Through Art. Hosted by Culture Art Design in collaboration with the Mongol Art Gallery, the expo invites visitors to experience a diverse range of artistic perspectives shaped by both Mongolian traditions and global contemporary practices.
