Children’s Rights - Kunstsalon Kasteel Daelenbroeck, Herkenbosch

In the historic horse stables of the romantic hotel Kasteel Daelenbroeck in Herkenbosch, a special art project is taking place. It’s more than just a regular exhibition—it’s a powerful call to protect the rights of children. The exhibition is called Children’s Rights and shows how art and poetry can work together to raise awareness. It’s also a great example of teamwork between different disciplines.

The project leaders: Carmen Heemels & Ed Hanssen

At the heart of the exhibition are two passionate artists:

  • Carmen Heemels is a visual artist, teacher, and curator. She started the KunstSalon and creates exhibitions that are not only beautiful but also meaningful. Her work focuses on topics that touch people deeply.

  • Ed Hanssen is a conceptual artist with international experience. His art is bold and expressive. It often shows both the honesty of children and the thoughtful reflections of adults. His pieces are strong visual messages—sometimes uncomfortable, but always real.

Together, they form the artist duo HHAP. For this exhibition, they took 26 poems written by authors from around the world and turned each one into a unique artwork. Every poem was interpreted in a personal way and transformed into a visual statement.

The poems: Voices from around the world

The poems come from writers in many different countries and cultures. One of them was written by Lars Schumacher from Germany. These poems are not just part of the exhibition—they help bring attention to children’s rights. The writers add their voices to a global conversation.

Art meets poetry

The exhibition also includes an art book that shows all the poems and artworks. This book is a lasting record of the project and helps share its message even after the exhibition ends. It’s made for schools, libraries, art lovers, and anyone who cares about children’s rights. It shows how art and language can work together—and how important it is to listen to young voices.
